Granted, buying a home is an expensive ordeal and there are bound to be areas you want to save money. A home inspection will point out major potential problems and should not be the area where you save costs. Here are a few areas where a home inspection could save you thousands.

1.) The roof- You may think the can tell if a roof is of sound structure by looking at it and maybe poking it a bit but the process is actually a bit more involved than that. A home inspection ill let you know if the roof is sturdy or has been susceptible to too much snow and is likely to need repair. You will also be able to determine if the roof provides proper insulation for heating purposes.

2.) The flooring- New flooring can be quite expensive and rot is sometimes hard to detect. A home inspection will immediately reveal any problems in the area and could make the difference in you passing on a house entirely.

3.) The windows- Old windows can allow in quite a draft and keep your potential home from heating properly. If there are a lot of windows and you will need all new ones, this could be s deciding factor in your skipping the purchase.

Good luck buying your home and proceed with caution.
